Mailbox Repair

I just built a double brick mailbox. It has two pillars with the mailboxs and a bricked flower pot area in between thats a third of the hieght. They are all attached. My question is, due to the winter months will the center area crack or push out the mail box pillars? What should i do instead? The whole mailbox is under a 4ft cement footing and the pillars are brick and concrete filled so they are sturdy. The center spacing is 2ft and a bit wider than the pillars so it indents out a bit. The middle is intented for dirt and flowers. Yet, come winter time the dirt may freeze. What if i just buy a potted flower and set it in there. Will i be ok?
